Indigenous caucus at rece

We are thrilled to introduce you to the Indigenous Caucus at RECE, an inclusive space dedicated to supporting Indigenous scholars and their invaluable contributions to early childhood education research.

The Indigenous Caucus originated a few years ago, during the Las Cruces conference in 2019. Born out of a shared commitment to fostering solidarity and support among Indigenous scholars, the Caucus is a vital platform for collaboration, advocacy, cultural exchange and shared healing.

At its inception, the Caucus members recognized the importance of highlighting Indigenous focus presentations with a silver fern leaf icon    ðŸŒ¿ to ensure that they are readily identifiable to all conference attendees, fostering meaningful engagement and dialogue. This initiative aims to elevate Indigenous voices, perspectives, and research within the RECE community, fostering greater visibility and appreciation for Indigenous knowledge and practices.

The Caucus typically convenes during each conference, providing a space for networking, collaboration, and community-building.  An Indigenous representative from the Caucus also sits on the RECE Steering Committee and is a member of each Conference Programme Committee.

The Indigenous Caucus at RECE is guided by inclusivity, respect, and reciprocity principles, honouring diverse Indigenous identities and experiences worldwide. It is a space where Indigenous scholars can find support, validation, and inspiration, nurturing a sense of belonging and empowerment within the RECE community.
