Bloch Distinguished Career Award


The "Bloch Distinguished Career Award" is awarded each year to an individual who has made significant contributions to Reconceptualizing Early Childhood Education.

The "Distinguished Career" award will be considered for those who have made significant contributions to Reconceptualizing Early Childhood Education over their career, in scholarship and engagement and one who has provided leadership, advocacy, involvement within or contributions to the Early Childhood Reconceptualist Movement. The active engagement within both RECE conference(s) and within the field of early childhood education and care overall will be considered.

Distinguished career criteria/qualities include but are not limited to:

  • Contributions to alternative theoretical frames,

  • Contributions to reconceptualizing research and policy,

  • Modification of, contributions to and/or delivery to pedagogical practices and direct support to young children and their families and/or

  • Facilitation of service(s) and support to underrepresented or marginalized and/or indigenous children, families, and communities throughout the world.

Nominations should be sent to Sonya Gaches at gaches@email.arizona.edu by Oct. 15th, and the recipient will be notified prior to Nov. 1st, 2013.

Recommendations letters should include 2-3 nomination letters of support, relevant documentation of the nominee's contributions to RECE in current and past years, and the nominee's CV. A committee will review and determine the most appropriate recipient of the award prior to each RECE conference.
